Tegemeo at the 10th Egerton University International Conference & Research week

This years Egerton University 10th International Conference and Research Week was held on the 30th of March 2016 to the 1st of April 2016.

The theme of the Conference was Research and Innovation for the advancement of Humanity. The subthemes were 1. Agriculture and Food Security, 2. Science and Technology, 3. Health and Environment, 4. Education and Culture, 5. Governance and Socio-Economics,  6. Climate change and Natural Resources.

The event was held at the Egerton Universities FEDCOS Complex in Njoro campus, and Tegemeo Institute being apart of the University under the Division of Research and Extension, participated in various ways. First the Institute participated in the exhibition whereby the conference participants were taken through an introduction to what the Institute does as well as the research products produced by the Institute. the participants learnt that all the research products once published are available online and free for download and use by all. This includes the Institute's rich database which can also be accessed upon request online - on the website - www.tegemeo.org/index.php/resources/data.html.

Secondly the Institute also presented research findings from a recent survey on the Status of the Agriculture Sector after Devolution to County Governments with special focus on Household Participation in Decision Making which was presented by Senior Research Assistant Nthenya Kinyumu.

Thirdly, the Institute was represented by Dr. Timothy Njagi who participated as a panelist after the Keynote Address 2 on Land Tenure Security and Agricultural Productivity in Kenya during the opening session of the conference.
